Rev. Zach Johnson

What is your name and job position?
Zach Johnson; Minister of Bus Outreach

Where were you born/grew up?
Right here in Huntsvegas!

Describe your family (how you met your spouse, if you have kids, pets):
I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Kimberly for over 5 years now. We have two ruggedly handsome boys, Elijah (4) and Micah (2).

Where did you get your education and what’s your degree?
I’m currently a student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

How did you come to be in the ministry, and/or what circumstances brought you to work at Whitesburg?
I came into the Youth Ministry under Michael Smith, accepted Christ at 16, surrendered to the ministry at 17, and began interning at 18.
After interning for a couple of years I was asked to be the Student Ministry Interim at two churches: first, at First Baptist Haleyville and then at Jackson Way Baptist.
Then I returned to Whitesburg, interning under Brandon Hanson who I followed a year later to Calvary Baptist in Beaumont, Texas where I served as the Student Ministry Associate for just over two years before returning to WBC in October of 2007.

What are your strengths/spiritual gifts?
Faith and Administration

What motivates you in your work?
When I see a child from our inner-city listen and respond to the Gospel.

What are your interests or hobbies (outside of work)?
I enjoy laughing and the best way I’ve found to do that lately is by watching The Office and 30 Rock.

What book are you currently reading?
Whatever Seminary tells me I have to.

What is your favorite type of music, or what’s on your iPod?
On the iPod right now I’ve got a ton of David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, Todd Agnew, Hillsong United and Third Day with some smatterings of Family Force 5, Skillet, The Rocket Summer, Jonny Lang, Flame and I'm a HUGE Five Iron Frenzy fan.

What is your favorite sports team?
I’m an Alabama fan. I don’t really pay attention to sports outside of college football season. (Except when Steven Dunne makes me fill out a March Madness bracket every year)

Give a short testimony of how you came to know Christ:
I followed a pretty girl on a youth trip to Panama City Beach when I was 16 where I heard and responded to the Gospel.

Describe a person or event that had a great impact on your life:
Sitting under Bro. Jimmy’s preaching as a young believer had a profound impact me.
